30+ Years of Sarasota Craftsmanship
Mike Erceg’s story began in 1989 with a van, a strong work ethic, and a business called All Phase Detailing. What started as mobile automotive detailing would eventually grow into a business, a family, and a legacy that continues today. While working, Mike met a man named Tom who taught him how to sew—a skill that would ultimately change the direction of his career. Mike began repairing headliners and sewing automotive seats, working from a sewing machine in the garage of his home. What started small grew through years of hard work, determination, and a genuine talent for his craft.
Eventually, Mike moved from the garage into a building of his own and expanded into automotive upholstery. Over the years, the business continued to grow, adding custom interiors, headliners, seats, convertible tops, and eventually automotive paint and body work. The business became known throughout the Sarasota area as Mike’s Auto Trim.
Behind the business was also a devoted husband and father. Mike was married to Karen Erceg, and together they had two daughters, Jessica Erceg and Katie Erceg. Although, as those closest to him might jokingly tell you, Mike may have been slightly married to his job, too. That dedication was simply part of who Mike was. He poured himself into his work and into the business he built from the ground up.
But Mike’s greatest impact wasn’t measured only by the vehicles that left his shop. It was measured by the people. Mike was loved by many of his customers, some of whom returned to him year after year. And inside the shop, his employees weren’t simply people who worked for him—Mike treated them like family. He shared his knowledge, taught his craft, gave people opportunities, and created a place where relationships mattered just as much as the quality of the work.
When Mike Erceg passed away, the impact he made didn’t disappear with him. Shortly after his passing, one of his employees made the decision to carry Mike’s name and legacy forward, opening a new business called Mike’s Upholstery & Custom Paint.
The business has continued to grow and evolve, but the roots of what we do today can still be traced all the way back to Mike Erceg—a man who started with a detailing van in 1989, learned to sew, put a sewing machine in his garage, and turned those humble beginnings into something that would outlive him. Today, every headliner installed, every seat restored, every convertible top replaced, every vehicle painted, and every customer who walks through our doors becomes another small part of the story Mike started so many years ago.
Mike’s name remains above our doors for a reason. It is our way of honoring Mike Erceg—the man who started it all, the craftsmanship he passed down, the people he influenced, and the legacy he left behind.
Forever remembered. Forever part of our family. Forever part of our story.
